Terms of Service

1. Account Requirements

To use PoppaPing you must provide a valid email address and create an account. You are responsible for maintaining the security of your account credentials. One person or entity may maintain multiple accounts, but each account must have a unique email address.

2. Acceptable Use

You agree to use PoppaPing only for lawful uptime monitoring purposes. You may not:

  • Use the service to perform denial-of-service attacks or load testing
  • Monitor URLs you do not own or have permission to monitor
  • Attempt to circumvent plan limits or abuse the free tier
  • Resell access to the service without written permission
  • Use the service in any way that violates applicable laws

3. Payments

All paid plans are billed in USD. We accept credit/debit cards and Bitcoin.

Credit & Debit Cards

  • Processing: Card payments are processed securely by Stripe. We do not store your card number.
  • Recurring billing: Subscriptions renew automatically at the end of each billing period. You may cancel at any time and your plan will remain active until the end of the paid period.
  • Refunds: If you are unsatisfied within the first 7 days of a new subscription, contact us for a full refund. After 7 days, no refunds are issued but you may cancel to prevent future charges.

Bitcoin

  • Processing: Bitcoin payments are handled via our self-hosted BTCPay Server instance.
  • Finality: Payments are considered complete once the Bitcoin transaction has settled (typically 1–3 confirmations). Settled payments are final.
  • No refunds: Due to the nature of Bitcoin transactions, we do not offer refunds for Bitcoin payments. You may cancel at any time and your plan will remain active until the end of the paid period.
  • Overpayment/Underpayment: BTCPay Server handles minor overpayments and underpayments according to its configured tolerance. Significant overpayments will be credited to your account.
  • Exchange rate: The BTC amount is calculated at the time of invoice creation and is valid for the duration shown on the payment page (typically 15 minutes).

4. Service Level

PoppaPing is provided on a best-effort basis. We strive for high availability but do not guarantee a specific uptime SLA for the monitoring service itself. We will make reasonable efforts to notify you of planned maintenance. The service checks your endpoints from multiple regions, but network conditions between our check nodes and your servers are outside our control.

5. SMS Notifications

PoppaPing offers optional SMS alert notifications for monitor downtime and recovery events.

  • Opt-in: SMS alerts are only sent after you explicitly consent by adding an SMS alert channel in your account settings and checking the consent box. You will never receive SMS messages from PoppaPing without opting in.
  • Message content: Messages contain monitor alert information such as the name of the affected monitor, its status (down or recovered), and a brief description of the issue.
  • Message frequency: Message frequency varies based on the number of monitors configured and their status. You control frequency via alert settings and quiet hours.
  • Opt-out: You may opt out at any time by replying STOP to any SMS message, removing the SMS channel from your settings, or contacting [email protected].
  • Rates: Message and data rates may apply depending on your mobile carrier and plan. PoppaPing does not charge separately for SMS alerts.
  • Carriers: SMS is supported on all major U.S. carriers. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.
  • Delivery: SMS delivery is provided by Twilio. We do not guarantee delivery of every message as it depends on carrier networks outside our control.

6. Plan Changes & Cancellation

You may upgrade your plan at any time. Upgrades take effect immediately. You may downgrade or cancel at any time — your current plan features remain active until the end of the billing period. Cancelled accounts revert to the free plan. Free plan accounts that remain inactive for 12 months may be deleted.

7. Termination

We reserve the right to suspend or terminate accounts that violate these terms, abuse the service, or are used for illegal purposes. We will attempt to provide notice before termination except in cases of egregious abuse.

8. Limitation of Liability

PoppaPing is provided "as is" without warranties of any kind, express or implied. We are not liable for any damages arising from missed alerts, delayed notifications, false positives, false negatives, or service interruptions. Our total liability is limited to the amount you have paid us in the 12 months preceding the claim.

9. Changes to Terms

We may update these terms from time to time. We will notify registered users of material changes via email. Continued use of the service after changes constitutes acceptance of the updated terms.

10. Governing Law

These terms are governed by the laws of the United States. Any disputes arising from these terms or your use of PoppaPing will be resolved in accordance with applicable U.S. federal and state law.
