Pay for Uptime Monitoring with Bitcoin

PoppaPing accepts Bitcoin for all paid plans via self-hosted BTCPay Server. No subscriptions, no third-party processors, no recurring charges you forgot about.

Most SaaS tools require a credit card. Sign up, enter your card number, hope you remember to cancel before the free trial ends. If you prefer paying with Bitcoin — for privacy, principle, or practicality — your options are limited.

PoppaPing accepts Bitcoin for all paid plans. Here's how it works and why we built it this way.

How Bitcoin checkout works

  1. Pick a plan on the billing page — Starter, Growth, Pro, or Business
  2. Choose monthly or yearly — annual billing saves roughly 17%
  3. Click the Bitcoin payment link — you're redirected to our BTCPay Server checkout
  4. Send BTC to the displayed address — the exact amount in BTC is calculated from the USD price at the current exchange rate
  5. Wait for confirmation — after 1-3 blockchain confirmations, your plan activates automatically
  6. Start monitoring — your upgraded limits take effect immediately

The entire flow takes a few minutes. No account creation on a third-party payment processor, no KYC forms, no card numbers stored anywhere.

Self-hosted BTCPay Server

We run our own BTCPay Server instance. BTCPay is open-source, self-hosted payment processing software. This matters because:

Your payment data stays with us. There's no third-party processor in the middle. The payment goes directly from your wallet to ours. No intermediary sees the transaction, your IP, or your email.

No payment processor fees. BTCPay Server is free and open-source. We pay the Bitcoin network fee (which you set in your wallet), but there's no 2.9% + $0.30 processing fee like credit card payments.

No custody risk. We receive payments directly to our own wallet. There's no payment processor holding funds that could freeze accounts, delay payouts, or impose restrictions.

One-time payments, not subscriptions

Bitcoin payments on PoppaPing are one-time. You pay for a month or a year, your plan activates, and that's it. No recurring charges, no auto-renewal, no surprise invoices.

When your plan is approaching expiry, we send reminder emails at 7 days, 3 days, and 1 day before. If you don't renew, your account moves back to the free tier. No data is deleted — your monitors, history, and settings are preserved. You just operate within the free plan limits until you renew.

This is intentional. Bitcoin transactions are irreversible, so auto-charging doesn't make sense. And frankly, the subscription model where companies make it easy to sign up and hard to cancel isn't something we want to replicate.

Pricing in USD, payment in BTC

All plans are priced in US dollars. When you click checkout, BTCPay calculates the BTC equivalent at the current exchange rate. The invoice is valid for approximately 15 minutes — enough time to open your wallet, confirm the amount, and send.

This means you always know what you're paying in dollar terms. If you're buying the Starter plan at $5/month, you pay $5 worth of Bitcoin regardless of where the price is that day.

Plan Monthly Yearly
Starter $5 $50
Growth $9 $90
Pro $19 $190
Business $39 $390

We also accept cards

If you prefer paying with a credit or debit card, that works too. Card payments go through Stripe and support auto-renewing subscriptions with cancellation anytime. You can also switch between payment methods — pay with Bitcoin one period and card the next.

The point isn't that Bitcoin is the only option. The point is that it's a real option, not a checkbox on a marketing page that leads to a "coming soon" page.

Why we accept Bitcoin

Uptime monitoring is infrastructure. It runs 24/7, it's mission-critical, and the people who run servers tend to value reliability, privacy, and control. Bitcoin aligns with those values.

We also believe that more software companies should accept Bitcoin. Not as a gimmick, not through a third-party processor that converts to fiat before you blink, but as a direct peer-to-peer payment — the way it was designed to work.
